  • Help Desk Student Training – Matt H shared the schedule for next week that includes training for the Help Desk student workers from Wed through Fri. Sessions include: Welcome Back and What’s New in LIS, Procedures and Paperwork, New at the Help Desk, Scheduling, Multimedia Workstations, Jeopardy, A/V and Sampson-Hoffland Tours, Procedures Review, Software Review, Network Registration/ResNet, Faculty Rollout, and Norse Apps & Migration.
  • Move-in Day – Reviewed what occurs during move-in which is Saturday morning (8/30/08) and Sunday morning (8/31/08). Any LISers willing to help out for an hour or two either (or both!) days are to contact Matt H or Matt B. Those assisting will join the “Network Registration/ResNet” session listed above.
  • Flat Panels for Olin 201 – Discussed the request for monitors and timing of the installation.
  • Fall Meeting Schedule – User Services staff will meet as a full team twice each month this fall rather than weekly. Individual meetings will occur the other weeks.
  • Request for Computer/Projection – Discussed request for a computer and projector in a classroom. Jim and Bob E will follow-up.
  • Review of Third-Party Training Resources – Demoed two products that provide self-service, 24×7 online training for faculty, staff, and students – Atomic Learning and ElementK. Will be making a decision soon regarding purchase. Anyone interested in trialing either of these systems, contact Diane.
  • Digital Signage – Conversations have been held and products reviewed. Awaiting quote for digital messaging and video signage solution that will provide better, more reliable service than our current system.
