I was at the Society of American Archivists meeting in San Francisco last week. My first day was filled with meetings. I have just been named the District 6 Rep on the Membership committee, so I am in charge of Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois. I am also going to be doing an analysis this fall of our student membership model and our student chapters and making some recommendations to the committee about how we work with student members.

I also had a chance to have a couple of meetings with the developers of Archon, our new online collections database including a gathering with other users. The project continues to develop and a good user community is developing.

I presented a paper at a session entitled Convergence: R[e]volutions in Archives and IT Collaboration. I presented a paper on our LIS structure at Luther. The other presenters were from the Wisconsin Historical Society, the Ohio State University and Mount Holyoke College.

Other sessions I attended were talking about cost-effective ways to digitize collections and discussions about developing institutional repositories. All in all it was a very good, very busy meeting.
