  • Campus-wide Staff Meetings – First staff meetings of the year are Sept 17 at 2:00 and Sept 18 at 9:00. Try to attend one or the other.
  • XP/Vista Faculty/Staff Images – Images are being updated ahead of the staff roll which starts Monday, Sept 22nd. Send all thoughts/comments to Larry regarding the image. He will have a machine available for review later this week. Will have Firefox the default browser, IE will remain, current Adobe Reader will be installed, Firefox will replace IE in the quick access bar, have Firefox permit pop-ups from katie.luther.edu by default.
  • Keyserver – Video workstations are crashing due to key access errors. Others are experiencing key access errors as well. Will try to determine a pattern and work to resolve this issue.
  • Jim’s Retirement Party – Jim’s party will be Tuesday, October 7th, which is his last day at Luther. Hold the date!
  • MIDAS Update – Have received quotes from KACE regarding their management and deployment systems. Would have helped this fall to prevent the spread of the Virtumundo virus on campus because we could have deployed Java updates to workstations. Will determine ROI and work to move this forward.
  • Olin 102 Projection – Three laptops from Athletics are not working correctly with projection in Olin 102; though they work fine in Olin 112 and the rock room. Will gather more details on the laptops, software system requirements, and differences between the rooms to determine the cause and resolve it.
  • SSS Laptops – Met with SSS last week in regard to their laptop pool. Determined they will be imaged in the same manner as the HD laptop pool so they can easily be reimaged by SSS when needed to reduce problems and increase the lifespan of the systems.
  • iTunesU – The group met last week to discuss marketing plans and options. They will reconvene in a few weeks.
  • HD Specialist Recruitment – Will have candidates on campus over the next couple of weeks. Keep your Oracle Calendar updated.
