Magnus searching alternatives

As we are still experiencing down-time on the books.luther.edu server, which supports Magnus, the library catalog, here are a few alternative methods for viewing materials held in Preus Library.

• WorldCat — Available to current students, staff and faculty via Norse Key, this source lists Luther holdings along with holdings for other libraries around the world. From the search page, select “Limit availability to: Items in my library,” at the bottom of the search form. Local call numbers are found in the “Class Descriptors” field.
• WorldCat Public — This search engine is open to the public. Once at an item, enter in Decorah’s Zip Code, 52101, to find the nearest location. If Luther College is listed, please contact the library to help locate the item.
• Encore — If a topic or keyword has been searched previously, the results from the search history will be available. This should provide access to location and call number for previously executed searches.
