User Services Meeting - 5/5/09

- LIS General – Next meeting is Wednesday, May 6th, in Mott.
- Project Directory – Update your projects (and add new ones) prior to Wednesday’s LIS General.
- Coverage for Help Desk Party – 2 or 3 volunteers needed to cover on Friday, May 15th, from noon to 2:00 so all Help Desk staff can attend.
- ResNet Symposium – Those interested in attending, contact Diane (June 26-29, http://resnetsymposium.org/resnet2009/).
- IAICU Technology Conference – Those interested in attending, contact Diane (June 11-12, http://csi.morningside.edu/).
- Hardware for ’09-‘10 – Reviewed options and made decision on the desktop model of choice. Still deciding between the laptop models. For this summer’s faculty roll, the D630 laptop will be provided.
- Images – Discussed what software should be added to / removed from the faculty/staff and lab images. Will add IE8, Office 2007 SP2, Audacity, and clicker software to all images. Resampling Stats Excel add-in will be removed.
- Campus Manager and IE 8 – Discovering that some students are needing IE8 in order to register their computers since it’s now included in the windows updates. Will talk with Net Sys about the issue.
- Vista Images – Lab Vista images are being enhanced, working on improving boot times, icon on the desktop to access h: drives.
- Budget – Faculty Roll orders will be placed Monday, May 11th and then we’ll know what is left to spend for ’08-09.
- Emergency Response Planning – List of all User Services related items will be emailed to the team. Those listed as the primary contact are responsible for updating the content. The plan is LIS only and located at http://lis.luther.edu/emergency.
- Supported Software – Support levels of full, limited, and minimal have been identified. Review the list of supported software found at http://lis.luther.edu/services/supportedsoftware and inform Matt Hughes of any additions/changes.
