Library professional staff meeting 5-11-09
LIBRARY PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEETING
May 11, 2009, 9:15 a.m., Hovde
Present: Chris, Ryan, John, Jane, Rebecca, Rachel.
All reported on their areas of the MUSTY project: Lindy started with LA 227. Withdrew 68 items and moved 9 items to the Depo. John did BJ-BR. Withdrew 262 items and moved 25 items to the Depo. Ryan started at HB 870. Withdrew 100 items. Rebecca started at PE 1408. Withdrew 106 items and moved 30 items to the Depo. Germano did the Reference Desk. Withdrew 8 items and transferred 1 item to stacks. Germano did GV. Withdrew 35 items and transferred 1 item to the Depo. Jane did the photography area. Reviewed 563 items, kept 480 items and withdrew 83 items.
Jane announced the summer internship schedule for Emily Mineart is finalized and told of four potential projects in addition to the regular internship program.
Jane suggested Tuesday, August 25th, from 9-12:00 for the first fall professional staff meeting. All agreed to this time.
The Collection Development assignments for 2009-2010 were reviewed.
Jane gave an update on the Librarian, Archivist, Information Professional Directory. Elizabeth Kaschins has been doing a great deal of work on this. Jane will keep all informed on the progress.
John gave information on the JSTOR 19th Century British Pamphlets, which we have had available free on a trial basis. We now will have to purchase them. All agreed to this purchase.
Rebecca then gave her scholarship presentation. She talked about her recent scholarship regarding how libraries are integrating Web searching strategies into their information literacy programs. Under the auspices of the CLIP Note series of publications by the ALA, she is compiling instructional materials and survey data to inform smaller academic libraries of current practice in this area of reference and instruction.
