Library professional staff meeting 8-25-09
LIBRARY PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEETING
August 25, 2009, 9:00 a.m., Hovde
Present: Chris, Andi, Ryan, John, Jane, Lindy, Germano, Rebecca, Rachel.
All agreed to the 9:15-10:30 a.m. time on Mondays for the professional staff meetings.
All gave a summary of summer registration, advising, professional workshops attended, etc., each had participated in over the summer.
Germano spoke on the Reference/Help Desk schedule. All need to sign up for Reference shifts. This can be done on the Google calendar. There will be no reference students at the desk this year. He will bring back information from the Help Desk meeting.
John gave out a handout on the materials budget for 2009-10 suggesting the department allocations remain the same as last year. All agreed.
Germano will send around the summer reference CHOICE cards for people to review.
Ryan reviewed LIS research website changes. If there are suggestions regarding these and future changes, let Ryan know. Will be evaluating Reason in the near future.
Jane gave out a handout on the summer projects and reviewed these. Emily Mineart’s internship was a great success. All had praise for the work she had done.
Chris gave a presentation on a college copyright policy that he is working on. He will be meeting with the President and Dean before the final policy is done. Hope to get this to divisions this fall.
Jane and Chris reported on the department review. Scottie Cochrane will be our outside evaluator coming October 12 through the 14th.
Germano spoke on the fall/spring Paideia library instruction units. Passed out a handout on which each chose the sections they will work with.
Chris was asked regarding staff updates. Had nothing new to report.
Jane gave an update on the preparations for the 40th anniversary of the Preus Library celebration. Much is on the web now.
Rachel and Ryan gave an update on the Postville Project. This is moving right along.
Jane said Kathy has created a google doc regarding the new interior library signs. If have suggestions, do this soon. Jane also gave an update on the DVD storage problem.
