Need to Reset Your Passwords?
As a new academic year begins and students and faculty return to campus, LIS would like to remind you of two useful tools to reset your passwords. Your NorseKey and Datatel passwords expire every 180 days. You can reset them yourself using the following tools.
On NorseKey.luther.edu you will be asked to set your security questions if you have not already completed them to authenticate yourself so that you can use the “Forgot My NorseKey” option to reset your NorseKey. You will get to choose your questions and respond with your answers to insure that you are the only one changing the password on your account.
In Datatel, login with your current password, then enter the mnemonic XPWD to set your new password. The screen will not echo the characters of your old or new password back to the screen as you type them. LIS recommends that you try your new password after you set it.
Strong passwords are at least eight characters long, contain numbers, characters, upper and lower case characters, and should not contain words from the dictionary, your username, blanks, or previous passwords.
If you have difficulty with either of these procedures, please contact the Technology Help Desk at extension 1000 or email helpdesk@luther.edu
