With continued input from participants, NITLE is shaping its programming agenda for the 2009 – 2010 academic year. A range of virtual programming for fall 2009 is now open for registration. These virtual events focus on a variety of special topics related to

digital teaching
emerging technologies
instructional technologists and their colleagues
quantitative analysis
teaching tools for the global age
the sciences

Note: those interested in pedagogical strategies for helping science students develop an understanding other cultures should register soon for “Internationalizing Curricula in the Sciences: Uses of Media and Technology.” This event, an instance of the “Special Topics: Teaching Tools for the Global Age” series, will take place on Thursday, September 10, from 4 – 5:15 p.m. Eastern.

In addition to the “Special Topics” series, two conferences are planned for fall 2009: “Geospatial Technologies in the Liberal Arts,” which will take place at Skidmore College on September 25 – 27, and “Instructional Technologists: A Virtual Conference,” which will take place in three connected sessions on November 16, 23, and 30. (Note that participants may still register for this month’s “Geospatial Technologies” conference.)

Finally, three additional in-person events are planned for spring 2010: the NITLE Instructional Technology Leaders Conference, the NITLE Summit, and NITLE Camp. The Instructional Technology Leaders conference is tentatively scheduled for March 24 – 25, and will be immediately followed by the NITLE Summit, tentatively scheduled for March 25 – 26. NITLE Camp, comprised of a modular set of workshops and community meetings for front-line technologists and faculty members, also has tentative dates: June 1 – 4. Locations for these events are presently being determined.

You can find details on all of these scheduled NITLE events at http://www.nitle.org/www/events. In addition, we encourage you and your colleagues to continue to offer feedback to NITLE by participating in one or more of the surveys on NITLE programming listed at http://tinyurl.com/NITLE-surveys-2009.
