LIBRARY PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEETING

September 21, 2009, 9:15 a.m., Hovde

Present: Chris, Andi, Ryan, John, Jane, Lindy, Germano, Rebecca.

Andi reported on her sabbatical projects, which included the following: investigate indexing and digitization for Bass World, the magazine of the International Society of Bassists; attend the Music Library Association annual meeting (Feb. 2009); attend and present at the Association of College and Research Libraries conference, panel presentation with Chris Barth and Diane Gossman “Rising Tide of Opportunity: Designing effective Communication Strategies for Information Organizations” (March 2009); attend the LOEX 2009 conference on library instruction; attend and present at the 2009 International Society of Bassists convention, presentation of “A Travelogue of the 18th Century Double Bass Virtuosos”.

Andi spoke on Library instruction initiatives. Will be talking with departments regarding senior paper and senior projects. This will be discussed at a future meeting.

Chris explained GoPrint for departments in the Library such as the ability to track usage.

Jane spoke on the Film Studies minor proposal. This is of interest to us as it pertains to our DVD/VHS collection.

Chris told of the LIS mixer happening on Oct. 1. This is for all LIS students and staff. All are encouraged to attend. He also spoke on the scholarship status subcommittee report.

Jane gave an update on the collaborative space area in the Library and the Writing Center help space, which will be moving to main floor on Sept. 27th. She also gave an update on the 40th anniversary celebration. Events are scheduled from September 30th through October 3rd and are listed on the website.
