Art Travels Internationally
The 20 drawings and 15 pieces of pottery by Marguerite Wildenhain which were exhibited at the Gera Art Museum in Gera, Germany, this past summer were returned to campus this past week. The crates were successfully scrutinized by Homeland Security and returned with all pieces unscathed. Nine paintings by Norwegian-American artists in the Fine Arts Collection are being prepared for shipment to the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway. The new U.S. ambassador to Norway, Barry White, and the curator for the Art in Embassies Program from the U.S. State Department, selected the paintings which are expected to be on loan in Norway for three years. They should be installed during December 2009. An opening reception for loaners and an exhibit catalog are being planned.
