Projection Upgrades for Homecoming week 2009

During the week of Homecoming, several meeting space projection systems were upgraded because of the heavy use and high visibility these room had during the this past weekend. These projection systems were due for rotation and retirement this year and we decided to change them out now so visitors and alumni would have a better experience using our rooms. The rooms included Mott, Boulaug, Peace and Hovde Lounge. Also, two new projectors were issued to the Help Desk for setup services. The projector model was a Sharp PG-F312X 3000 lumens.

Recycling of Equipment within LIS

Recently User Services organized a recycling day for our broken and dated electronic equipment. We collected everything we could from CRT computer monitors, overheads, circulation desk check-out dorm switches,to slide projectors. If it was broken and deemed unrepairable or simply unusable, it went to be recycled. We used a company called Midwest Electronic Recovery to facilitate the recycling. Due to the distance they have to travel, MER also made other pickups within the Decorah community. Our local county facility will no longer take Electronics from commercial businesses. See pictures.

More Mediacom Cable TV Changes

We swapped vacant channels with Decorah’s Mediacom so that additional digital channels can viewed with TVs equipped with digital converters here on the campus (good for the students in the dorms). We gave them Channel 52 and they gave us Channel 42 for our use.
