Wireless Network

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

The Luther College wireless network aims to provide wireless access to all academic and administrative buildings and to public spaces in residence halls where technically viable.

+ All campus Wireless is 802.11g standard. This is compatible with both 802.11b (11MB connection) and 802.11g (54MB connection) wireless cards. 802.11a wireless cards are not compatible with our wireless network.

The following locations are currently available for wireless connectivity. Network registration is required for personal computers. Guests should contact the Technology Help Desk or Campus Programming for temporary access.

In order to preserve the health of the campus network, individuals are not allowed to connect personal routers or switches to their network port. This restriction includes personal wireless devices such as wireless routers, hubs, and switches (a.k.a. access points). While these devices are often desirable to individual users, use of such devices interferes with the health of the network and can cause large-scale network outages. Luther’s wireless initiative aims to provide wireless access to public spaces in residence halls when technically viable.
