Q1: Is datatel.luther.edu available off-campus?
A: Yes, provided you use a college-owned laptop and access the network via the VPN Client. With this new mobility, it is especially important that you never share your Datatel password and be careful to logout of your session and close your web browser when you use a computer other than your own workstation. These are important security precautions.

Q2: Where is Benefactor?
A: Benefactor was replaced with Colleague Advancement in July of 2009. Benefactor data was merged into the Colleague Advancement system.

Q3: The fonts are messed up when using datatel.luther.edu on my Mac, how can I fix this?
A: The Java applet doesn’t render everything correctly. This issue appears to be the result of a bug within the Java Runtime Environment on Mac OS X 10.5. Please follow these instructions for a workaround.

Q4: I’m stuck at “Loading Java Applet…,” what do I do?
A: Looks like your java needs to be upgraded. Please go http://java.com and follow the instructions after you click “Free Java Download.”

Q5: I see two Security Warnings, should I trust this publisher?
A: Yes, please choose always trust content from this publisher. We are in the process of resolving these issues.

Q6: Which browser works best for datatel.luther.edu?
A: Firefox seems to work best for both Mac and PC.

Q7: Will I still need to use Citrix to use Datatel from off-campus?
A: Citrix is no longer needed to access Datatel from off-campus provided you use a college-owned laptop with the VPN Client installed. Simply logon to datatel.luther.edu. Citrix is still needed when on other computers. Laptops are available for checkout from the HelpDesk.

A: The menu bar is located under the arrow next to the locked datatel icon.
