INTRODUCTION
LIS is implementing Google Apps for Education at Luther under the name Norse Apps. This online productivity suite includes Luther-branded versions of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Documents, and iGoogle (Google Start Page). Implementation began in Spring 2008 and will be completed by Summer 2009.
TRAINING
This LIS training covers the Mail, Chat, and Start Page components of Norse Apps. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend and during the session you will be converted to Norse Apps so that you can fully participate in the training session. If you would like an account prior to the training session, contact the LIS Technology Help Desk at x1000 or helpdesk@luther.edu.
* The training will begin with Norse Mail, walking you through how to use the Gmail web interface to access your mail. We'll talk about the advantages of the web interface over other mail clients such as Thunderbird including conversations, integration, and speed. You are able to use either interface to access your Norse Mail.
* We will then use with Norse Chat to communicate with each other.
* Finally, we will take a look at the Start Page and the benefits it provides.
