INTRODUCTION

LIS is implementing Google Apps for Education at Luther under the name Norse Apps. This online productivity suite includes Luther-branded versions of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Documents, and iGoogle (Google Start Page). Implementation began in Spring 2008 and will be completed by Summer 2009.

This LIS training covers the Calendar and Docs components of Norse Apps. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend, though you are expected to have a Norse Apps account created in order to fully participate. To obtain an account, attend the Norse Mail, Chat, and Start Page session or contact the LIS Technology Help Desk (x1000 or helpdesk@luther.edu).

TRAINING

We will use Norse Calendar to create events, share calendars with anyone (and everyone), and compare it to Oracle Calendar.

Then, together, we will experience Norse Docs (which includes word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) and the collaboration this product encourages. Other features we will explore include:
* Versioning
* Adding Comments
* Creating Folders to Organize Files
* Importing into Norse Docs
* Exporting from Norse Docs
