LIS is implementing Google Apps for Education at Luther under the name Norse Apps. This online productivity suite includes Luther-branded versions of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Documents, and iGoogle (Google Start Page). All faculty and staff are to move to Norse Apps by December 31, 2008. All students have already moved.
This LIS training covers the Docs components of Norse Apps. All faculty and staff are welcome to attend this session, though you are expected to have a Norse Apps account created in order to fully participate. To obtain an account, attend a Norse Mail session or contact the LIS Technology Help Desk at 563-387-1000.
Together, we will experience Norse Docs (which includes word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) and the collaboration this product encourages. Other features we will explore include:
* Versioning
* Adding Comments
* Creating Folders to Organize Files
* Importing into Norse Docs
* Exporting from Norse Docs
* Creating a form that you invite people to complete via email
In order to have hands-on access to a product so that you can experience it yourself, with the guidance of an instructor, skills training is available. The instructor will provide materials so you can follow along and try the exercises yourself. There will also be some time for you to experiment on your own. These sessions are 50-60 minutes in length.
More information on upcoming training and instruction is available at http://lis.luther.edu/learn.
