Given that it is the learning goals and outcomes that differentiate an internship from other work-related experiences, sound faculty advising and intentional academic requirements are the key to enhancing a student’s internship experience. This workshop will feature Luther faculty members who have experience advising students engaged in internships. They will speak about their interactions with students before, during, and after the internship, and highlight the additional academic requirements outlined by their department.

ABOUT THIS SERIES: This three-part series is designed to help faculty prepare for students’ increased interest in completing academic internships in order to satisfy the experiential January term requirement and/or gain hands-on experience with specific academic learning goals in mind. The series will introduce faculty to the services and resources provided by the Career Center, outline the process of identifying and planning for internship opportunities, and address the importance of faculty advising and intentional academic requirements for a successful internship experience. Departments are encouraged to send at least one representative to each session.
