Facilitator: Craig Mosher (Social Work)
Locaton: Mott – Dahl Centennial Union
This two-part workshop focuses on ways to incorporate a sense of place and sustainability, broadly defined, into courses in all disciplines. The goal is for each participant to examine a course that he/she teaches or wants to teach and revise a syllabus, or make plans to revise a syllabus, in order to incorporate sustainability in some way. We will utilize guest speakers, an exercise, and group discussion to learn about:
• What makes this place, our campus in the Oneota valley, unique and special.
• How classes can relate to this place as a physical and social environment.
• Sustainability and related social justice issues in the larger world and at Luther.
• Ways that classes can relate to these sustainability and social justice issues.
• Connecting sustainability to learning outcomes and evaluation strategies.
• Ways to connect faith with learning as we work to care for creation.
The second day of the workshop is Friday, October 17. Please sign up for both days.
