Norse Mail
Facilitator: Diane Gossman
Location: Olin 301 - Round Table Room
LIS is implementing Google Apps for Education at Luther under the name Norse Apps. This online productivity suite includes Luther-branded versions of Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, Google Documents, and iGoogle (Google Start Page). All faculty and staff are to move to Norse Apps by December 31, 2008. All students have already moved.
This LIS training covers the Mail component of Norse Apps. All faculty and staff who have not yet converted to Norse Apps are welcome to attend. During the session you will convert to Norse Apps. If you would like to convert without attending a training session, contact the LIS Technology Help Desk at 563-387-1000.
* The training will walk you through how to use the Gmail web interface to access your mail.
* We'll talk about the advantages of the web interface over other mail clients such as Thunderbird including conversations, integration, and speed.
* You are able to use either interface to access your Norse Mail.
In order to have hands-on access to a product so that you can experience it yourself, with the guidance of an instructor, skills training is available. The instructor will provide materials so you can follow along and try the exercises yourself. There will also be some time for you to experiment on your own. These sessions are 50-60 minutes in length.
More information on upcoming training and instruction is available at http://lis.luther.edu/learn.
