This two-day workshop provides an orientation for faculty who have committed to be advisors for first-year students during the upcoming summer orientation and fall semester. Topics include a general overview of the new graduation requirements that took effect in fall 2007; specific details from those departments such as Music and Nursing that require special attention during summer registration; and discussion on strategies to help students make a successful transition from high school to Luther. The workshop will also include presentations and suggestions from experienced first-year advisors. Selected readings and up-to-date materials for advising will be provided.
