Reclaiming the Commons: A Vision for Humans in Luther’s Landscapes (Day 2 of 2)

Participants: First priority to decision-makers about Luther’s landscape, including members of the Land Use Committee, members of the Sustainability Council, and faculty of Environmental Studies. Limit of 16. A follow-up session for a broader audience may be offered if interest is sufficient.

In this workshop participants will read Brian Donahue’s Reclaiming the Commons as one model of how a community has restored its natural and human landscapes in an ecologically sustainable manner. In addition to discussing this book, the workshop will include field trips to explore the land use and natural history of the Luther College campus and time for conversation about how to develop a practical and ecologically sustainable land use plan for the natural areas on this campus.
