Reimage Help Desk Loaner Laptops - Legacy

Laptops checked out from the Technology Help Desk are reimaged each time they are returned. This wipes all data and makes sure no information is transferred to the next user. Please be certain to remove any valuable data before returning to the Help Desk.

How To Reimage Windows Laptops

  1. Connect the USB Ghost Flash Drive and press F12 at the Dell splash screen.
  2. Choose USB Storage Device
  3. Select D610 Laptop or D600.
  4. Select Local – Partition – From Image.
  5. Select the Hard Drive with the Ghost image from the drop down menu.
  6. Select the .GHO file (normally WS###.GHO)
  7. Select OK 3 times, and then Yes. Pay attention to what is being asked and select the appropriate partition.
  8. If prompted for the Next Image, select OK.
  9. Select Reset Computer when complete.
  10. Allow computer to boot and run for 10 – 15 minutes.
  11. Shut down and return to the check-out cabinet.

How To Reimage Mac Laptops

  1. Insert Mac OS X System DVD and reboot holding the C key.
  2. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen.
  3. Click on Macintosh HD in the left window pane.
  4. Click Restore tab.
  5. In Source, click Image and select the disk image file from the Restore partition.
  6. In Destination, drag the Macintosh HD partition into the text field. Click Erase Destination and then Restore.
  7. When restoration is complete, reboot.
  8. Run Software Update and Microsoft AutoUpdater.
