This two-day workshop will provide an orientation for those who have taught and those who are interested in teaching Paideia II courses. The workshop will focus on both the technical and theoretical aspects involved in designing and teaching a Paideia II course. Topics will include the nature of interdisciplinary study and teaching, a consideration of what the Paideia II experience should be for both students and faculty, selecting members of a Paideia II teaching team, procedures for submitting a Paideia II course proposal, the various Paideia II course configurations (e.g. single courses, paired courses, sequenced courses), models for ethical reflection and moral deliberation, and strategies for the continued development of students’ writing skills. The intention of the workshop is not simply to disseminate “how to” information but also to afford faculty an opportunity to help influence and shape the Paideia II program by contributing to the ongoing development of the program.
