This Week in LIS - 9 September 2011
Headline of the Week: Easier Than Ever to Apply to Luther College!
Students applying for admission to Luther have a new, easy online application featuring OpenID to login to the application with their Google, Facebook, Twitter, or Yahoo credentials. The new application was developed at Luther using Reason, our web content management system. Admissions staff will use an automated process to transfer the completed application information to our student information system for processing.

Food for Thought
Tom’s Hardware Page has been around since the beginning of the PC and I’m not aware of a more widely-accepted, impartial source for information regarding all matters of personal computing. The results below capsulize their August 29th review major browsers:
| Place | PC | Mac |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Chrome 13 | Safari 5.1 |
| 2nd | Firefox 6 | Chrome 13 |
| 3rd | Internet Explorer 9 | Opera 11.5 |
| 4th | Opera 11.5 | Firefox 6 |
| 5th | Safari 5.1 | N/A |
Thanks to Bob Puffer for this week’s submission.
This Week in LIS is published most Fridays by Diane Gossman, Chair of the LIS Council, on behalf of the LIS Council at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. The Library and Information Services Council provides strategic leadership for information support to Luther College and its mission.
