Participants from the Summer 2011 Faculty Workshop “Enhancing Student Learning Through Information Literacy and Technology” will share changes they have made to one or more of their 2011-12 courses as a result of this workshop and discuss the impact that those changes have had on their students. You are invited to bring your lunch and join the conversation.

This is the first in a series of four brown bag sessions with the technology and information literacy workshop participants (representing the Art, Economics, Education, Music, Nursing, Social Work, and Theatre/Dance departments) and members of LIS. All faculty are welcome to attend; the sessions will be of particular interest for those who would like to be part of the Summer 2012 workshop experience.

Today’s session features Brooke Joyce and Steve Smith presenting from the Music Department and Ben Moore presenting from the Art Department. Ben will demonstrate how the use of an iPad in a studio classroom can increase the efficiency of the classroom by gathering information (images/video) almost instantly and present that information to the whole class wirelessly. Brooke and Steve will demonstrate two software programs that manipulate sound, and discuss how students use them to create original compositions.

The full schedules is as follows:
