Any faculty member who won’t be working with first-year students but who thinks the workshop will be beneficial in their advising work should contact Bradley Chamberlain. An alternative for experienced advisors who will not be advising first-year students this summer is to sign up here for the half-day refresher workshop on August 20.
Registration deadline: May 9. Participants should register for both days. Please sign up below for day two and here for day one.
This two-day workshop provides an orientation for faculty who have committed to be advisors for first-year students during the upcoming summer orientation and fall semester. Topics include a general overview of the graduation requirements that took effect in fall 2007; specific details from those departments such as Music and Nursing that require special attention during summer registration; and discussion on strategies to help students make a successful transition from high school to Luther. The workshop will also include presentations and suggestions from experienced first-year advisors. Selected readings and up-to-date materials for advising will be provided.
Information on other upcoming faculty development workshops is available at http://lis.luther.edu/learn/schedule and on the faculty development events calendar.
