Citrix Installation Notes

The instructions on the Help Desk website for installing and configuring Citrix have been updated. They were updated after the newest version came out, but due to recent struggles people have had with the setup, additional changes have been made. Most importantly, when adding a new ICA connection the “Name:” field needs to have “citrix-1.luther.edu” rather than just “citrix-1”. It is tricky to get set up right, but hopefully the instructions located at https://lis.luther.edu/node/2640/ make sense.

Mailing Lists

Documentation is now available on http://announce.luther.edu which runs an email distribution application known as DaDa Mail. DaDa Mail makes it easier for the Luther community to send email messages to large groups of students, faculty, staff or alumni. The documentation is located at http://lis.luther.edu/learn/announce.

This spring, those within the Luther Community whom we know have a need to send messages to large groups of people will be contacted directly to invite them to make the switch and to assist them in the transition.

LIS Auction Change

The LIS Auction has been changed to no longer offer the “buy it now” option. Bidding on items now continues until 7:30 a.m. on Fridays at which point the auction closes and the high bidder wins the item.

We discovered that the “buy it now” option was not providing the expected functionality in the case where multiple bidders were involved.

Training & Instruction Website Changes

The Training & Instruction page lis.luther.edu/learn has been modified. Rather than having to scroll down to view the training opportunities and sign up, there is now a link at the top of the page that takes you to a screen containing only the schedule.

The change also makes Atomic Learning more visible. Atomic Learning can be used to learn about Microsoft Office, iLife, Adobe products, and more than 100 other software titles by searching a collection of short movies. This is available to all Luther faculty, staff and students anytime, on campus or off.
