Enhancing the Internship Experience

Given that it is the learning goals and outcomes that differentiate an internship from other work-related experiences, sound faculty advising and intentional academic requirements are the key to enhancing a student’s internship experience. This workshop will feature Luther faculty members who have experience advising students engaged in internships.

Internship Learning Plans: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

In May 2008 the faculty voted to adopt college-wide internship standards. Among these standards is the requirement that all students pursuing a credit-bearing internship must complete a learning plan. This educational tool is what truly differentiates an internship from other employment-related experiences. In the learning plan a student will specify learning goals and document the methods for accomplishing and assessing those goals.

Finding an Internship: Leaving No Stone Unturned

This workshop will highlight several key resources available in the Career Center to help students identify potential internship opportunities. The presenters will also review the process used to guide students as they begin the search for an internship, providing specific examples related to a range of disciplines.
