Planned Outage for Regents Center Network 1/6/08

The network outage in the Regents Center on 12-19-08 was due to damage caused to one of our fiber optic cables by the teeth of a rodent. Network service was only temporarily repaired at that time.

Tomorrow (1-6-09 ) technicians will properly repair the connection by fusion splicing it back together. The network in the Regents Center will be down most of the day while the repairs are made.

Mail delivery problem with accounts that have not yet Converted to Norse Mail is now fixed

As of 8:30PM 12/03/08 Google has provided a fix for the problem where mail was not being delivered to accounts that have not yet switched to Norse Mail. These accounts are once again receiving email.

Mail sent to these accounts during the outage was bounced back to the sender and will not be delivered unless the sender resends it.

That mail is once again flowing to the old mail servers does not mean that switching to Norse Mail is unnecessary. All email users must switch to Norse Mail by 01/01/09. The deadline is quickly approaching. Don’t wait until the last minute switch now.

Mail delivery problem with accounts that have not yet Converted to Norse Mail

We have become aware of a problem with delivery of mail to luther.edu email accounts that have not yet converted to Norse Mail. Specifically mail is bouncing when a Norse Mail user or an email user from another domain mails a Luther email user that has not converted.

I’m working with Google tech support trying to resolve the issue, and hope to have a solution soon.

In the mean time, the only immediate work around is to convert your account to Norse Mail now rather than waiting.
