Leisure and New Books Shelves have been moved

As part of the library renovation project, the leisure books shelves and new books shelves have been moved to the wall with the copiers. The seating from the previous leisure book area has temporarily been placed in the empty area at the end of the reference desk. All of this shifting has completely emptied out the space that will be remodeled into the new Technology Help Desk Call Center.

Also, the current periodicals have been temporarily stored on top of and on the bottom shelves of the reference section.

Ramblings on the Upper Iowa River (1890)

David Faldet’s excellent new book, Oneota Flow, mentions an obscure pamphlet titled Ramblings on the Upper Iowa River that we keep in the Preus Library Rare Book Room. Published in Decorah around 1890 it features several vintage photographs and a brief text describing the beauty of the region and its charms.

Last week a patron from Des Moines stopped by the library and asked to see the volume. Unfortunately the pamphlet was hard to locate that day and he returned to Des Moines disappointed.
