During this week’s maintenance window, routine OS patches will be applied to illiad.luther.edu. This will likely result in brief downtime of the server, which provides access to interlibrary loan functionality for the library. Access will return by the end of weekly maintenance window.

AED (automatic external defibrillator) now available at the circulation desk

The Health Service has provided an AED (automated external defibrillator) for the library. It is located behind the circulation desk next to the pillar at the reserve desk. A placard on the pillar alerts people to its presence. Training for any interested LIS staff will be provided at a later date by the Health Service.

An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias leading to cardiac arrest and is designed to be simple to use by the average person whether they have had training or not.

NAXOS 2.0 Arrives

Naxos Music Library has released version 2.0 of their web interface. Users will notice that the main page layout has changed slightly.

The most noticeable difference in the new version is the addition of support for the Microsoft Silverlight media player. Our early experience has been that Silverlight provides a more consistent end-user experience across platforms and browsers.

Naxos remains compatible with Windows Media Player, but users will be invited to install Silverlight the first time a track is played in the new interface.

As of Sept.
