Web time entry enabled on my.luther.edu

We have just enabled some new menu items on the my.luther.edu web site. This will allow a small group of student workers to enter their work time on the web. We are starting with a small pilot group of students to begin this project. Most users will see the message “You do not have permission to access this workflow.” when they try to access the links on the Students and Employees menus.

The web time entry project will be gradually expanded over the coming months to allow additional student workers to enter their work time via the web.

Ryan Gjerde, III & Illiad systems contact

As part of his new Digital Initiatives Librarian role, Ryan Gjerde is now the primary contact for questions and problems relating to the operation of the books.luther.edu server, the Encore server and the Illiad server. If you detect problems with the operation of Magnus, Encore, Illiad, etc. and you would have previously contacted John Goodin, now you should contact Ryan. I will serve as a backup when necessary. When in doubt you can contact either of us and we’ll sort it out.

LIS Emergency Response Plan Updated

Thanks to the work of many in LIS, including Cindy Hansmeier who coordinated edits, an updated version of the LIS Emergency Response Plan has been posted to LIS’ internal Basecamp Emergency Response project.

We will next look to transition this document primarily to a secure website this fall, with PDF copies of the web version stored in multiple locations for redundancy.

In spring 2009, we will again revisit the entire document for content.

Issues Connecting to Licensed Resources

As a result of network address changes, access to licensed database resources currently travels through our campus proxy server. All services are available, and will remain available. Users will just need to enter their Norse Key to be connected to the resource.

LIS and our vendors are working to configure direct access from the new campus network address space, and we will remove the proxy login step as soon as all arrangements are complete.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this significant upgrades and enhancements to Luther’s Internet connectivity.

LIS Website Switches Default Theme

The LIS website is sporting a redesigned theme for its default as of this afternoon. This theme takes into account feedback we’ve received from many over the last several weeks since the new site launched. One other notable change is the search engine on the site now defaults to the integrated search engine for our publishing system Drupal. This will accurately return authenticated search results and provide some enhanced Drupal-specific search features that are not possible currently with our Google engine.
