Germano Streese is Luther’s Reference & Instruction Librarian. As a librarian, he spends much of his time answering questions and helping people find the information they need. He also teaches Paideia, works with the Library Instruction program, and is Liaison to the Departments of Modern Languages, Environmental Studies, Physical Education/Health, and Mathematics. Germano would like to point out that the Research Help desk is an excellent place to start with questions regarding informational needs connected to any research project people are involved in.

Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts

Brief Description: 

Linguistics & Language Behavior Abstracts (LLBA) abstracts and indexes the international literature in linguistics and related disciplines in the language sciences. The database covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Complete coverage is given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive, historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics. The database provides abstracts of journal articles and citations to book reviews drawn from over 1,500 serials publications, and also provides abstracts of books, book chapters, and dissertations.

Create a Citation in Magnus

Magnus now has the ability to display example citations for many of the books, journals, videos, and music in the Luther Library Collection.

When looking at a full item record in Magnus (here’s an example), on many records you will now see a link immediately below title and imprint information, labeled “Cite this Item (from WorldCat).” Example citations will be given in the following formats:

  • APA
  • Chicago (Author-Date)
  • Harvard
  • MLA
  • Turabian

“Cite this Item” is provided by OCLC, and is also available from WorldCat.org

JSTOR Arts & Sciences VI Collection now available

Luther College now has access to the content of journals included in JSTOR’s Arts & Sciences VI Collection.

“With a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) titles, the Arts & Sciences VI Collection will extend JSTOR’s coverage in disciplines across the social sciences, with clusters focused in economics, education, linguistics, political science, and area studies.”
