• VPN Pilot – Adam gave a show and tell of a pilot project to provide access from off campus through VPN. Those in LIS who are interested in participating in the pilot are to contact Adam.

• Norse Calendar – The proposed date for switching from Oracle Calendar to Norse Calendar is January 1, 2009.

• Staff Appreciation Day – Be sure to attend on Monday, August 11th, and to sign up for “Luther’s Game Show Medley” when you register.

• User Services Opening – Reviewed the changes in User Services and that we are searching for a Help Desk Specialist.

• Student Work Computer – Discussed the request to upgrade the student work computer in the Athletic Training Room and specific next steps.

• Mott/Borlaug – These two spaces will be used as classrooms this fall.

Greetings from Asuncion, Paraguay!

The Latin American Theological Information Network (Red Latinoamericana de Informacion Teologica) is having its 7th Bi-annual meeting in this historical city of South America, July 14-18. Librarians and library workers from several theological institutions with different theological backgrounds are here to share and learn together. We have people from Argentina, Paraguay, Mexico, Cuba, Ecuador, and Brazil.

• Olin 102 Screen – This screen does need to be replaced. It’s not able to be fixed, though it could be used elsewhere on campus where it can remain down. Jim to gather quotes.

* Summer Registration - Went well from LIS perspective.

* Faculty Rollout - So far, so good. The two busiest weeks are now complete and we are on track. Discussed Office 2007 questions, using same printer driver for all Dells, VNC configuration, parallels and wireless (Matt B will post more on this), Datatel UI work in progress by App Dev.

* Admissions pre-registration process - Bob P demonstrated the new work flow he has developed this spring. Students submit information through a KATIE site, information is extracted and merged with additional data, spreadsheets are uploaded to Norse Docs where faculty input recommendations, and resulting combination of information is returned to Admissions for working for efficiently with the newly deposited students.

* KATIE Upgrade - Plans are for the new version of KATIE to be implemented on Saturday, May 24th.
