* LIS General - Scheduled for tomorrow morning, 9:00AM in the Mott Room.

* KACE Webinar - Overview and demo of KBOX Systems Management appliance scheduled for Friday, May 9, at 12:30 pm CST and will last approximately 90 minutes. Larry will register us for it.

* HD Coverage - Team members will cover the HD on Friday while HD staff are recognizing the fine work of their student staff.

John gave an update on Research Pro/Encore. Gave a handout showing budget figures as of May 5. Distributed drafts of catalog copy. Discussion followed on the wording, etc.

Chris gave a demo and led discussion on Research Resources on the Library website.

* Faculty Rollout - Ryan and Chris B visited the Division Meetings this morning and shared information about the Summer 2008 Rollout, including the May 5th deadline for submitting the response forms. All faculty to submit a form. With Apple's iMac product line announcements earlier this week, discussed whether to alter the specs; decided to keep the same specs and request a new quote.

* Excel 2008 - Noticing differences in performance between Excel 2008 for the Mac and Excel 2007 for Windows; will research.

John gave an update on Encore.

Germano presented CHOICE reference reviews for decisions on ordering.

Ryan spoke on software requests/issues. Librarians will report to Ryan with decisions in their areas.

Rachel gave an update on future archive plans.

* Moving to the Mac Platform - Demo in Mott 12:15-1:15 Wednesday, April 23rd. Chris B will be answering questions from those who are considering switching, show Parallels running Vista, and will show new features in Leopard.

Items discussed:
Budget update.
Book sale preliminary figures.
Possible DVD purchases.
Campus scheduling issues.

Ryan will be a presenter at the Midwest Library Technology Conference May 29 and
30th.

I was in Louisville, KY last week for the Midwest Archives Conference meeting. It was our first time gathering in KY, which joined the regional organization about 3 years ago.

It was a very good meeting and as usual, it was good to catch up with old friends and colleagues and hear what people are doing in their archives.

Open Source and Web 2.0 are alive and well in the archives. I heard presentations that included a number of interesting products that may have useful applications for us at Luther including a new IMLS funded project called Omeka. http://omeka.org/

New Dates for Moving Alumni to NorseMail

We've modified the dates to start communication to Alumni on June 30th so that the HelpDesk is staffed to help respond to Alumni with questions.

Here's the new plan for moving existing Alumni to NorseMail.

1) Scott will modify the Alumni directory application to include an option under Settings, to create a new NorseMail account. Scott will add instruction for them to recreate email forwarding accounts in NorseMail. The current email forwarding option will not display for those Alumni using NorseApps.

The meeting was devoted almost entirely to the group taking a critical look at the "new Magnus" and Encore. We tried different searches and discussed the results. We also viewed Michael Wesch's Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us" as a group and had a free-wheeling conversation.

John led a discussion on the department name change. Indications are that the change will happen.

Andi handed out a draft for Library and Information Studies listing for the Luther 2008-09 catalog. Discussion followed on wording, etc.

Andi then passed out an electronic resources handout for consideration. This will be on the April 14th agenda for responses.
