Norse Mail Experiencing Some Issues

Norse Mail is currently experiencing sporadic issues including not displaying or sending messages, or being able to use the Chat feature.

LIS is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Internet Maintenance early tomorrow morning

I’m planning to upgrade the firmware on our NetEqualizer tomorrow morning (11-18-09) around 6AM. This will result in 2 very brief interruptions of internet service of a few minutes or less.

Trouble with Norse Apps and Work Around

Update No sooner than I found out that Google was aware of this issue and made this post, the issue appears to be resolved.

Google is experiencing trouble with what they call custom URL’s, and say they are activly working to fix the problem. To us this means that the URL’s ending in luther.edu that we use to access these services aren’t working right now.

Serials Solutions Server Upgrades

On Saturday, Oct. 24, Serials Solutions will be performing routine maintenance on their servers from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This may result in some downtime for the Full Text E-Journals link on the Library Research page. During this time, an alternative will be to search Encore for the title you seek, looking for results with “[Electronic Resource]” in their titles.

Encore upgrade - Oct. 20, 2009

The Encore library resource discovery tool will be upgraded Tuesday, Oct. 20. The upgrade procedure will require about 30 minutes of downtime at some point of the day. If you need to search the library collection while Encore is unavailable, please try the “Magnus” tab on the Library Research page, or visit Magnus directly at http://books.luther.edu.

Katie problem resolved

The database error Katie was displaying has been remedied.

Katie Database Error

We are currently experiencing problems with the Katie server. Users have reported an inability to log into any accounts. This is affecting Staff and Students.

Recent reports of slow Datatel performance

LIS has received several reports in recent weeks from users of the Datatel system performing slower than normal. Other Datatel clients have reported the problem to Datatel on AnswerNet and on the Datatel forums. We believe the issues are from infrastructure changes that Datatel is making in preparation for the next version (4.0) of the Datatel User Interface. There has not been any indication that Datatel will put resources into resolving the performance issues on our current version, Datatel UI 2.3.
