Campus Manager Upgrade

Campus Manager will be upgraded at 7AM on Monday (5/3/2010) morning. This upgrade will cause a brief (about 10min) period where computers will not be able to make new connections to the wireless network, and where new computers will not be able to register for network access. We plan to have this upgrade completed and the network fully functioning before 8AM.

Internet outage Sunday morning Updated 4/27/2010

Update As of 5:30PM on 4/27/2010 the broken internet router has been repaired and we once again have full internet bandwidth.

There was an internet outage on campus starting at about 10AM this morning. At this point it appears that we’re experiencing some sort of hardware failure with one of our internet routers. As of about 12:40PM the problem is temporarily worked around but is causing us to have a little less internet bandwidth than we usually have. Work is underway on a more permanent fix.

Datatel maintenance for 4/14 is complete

The Datatel maintenance for Wednesday, April 14 is complete. Thanks for your patience!

Please exit from Datatel sessions at 12:00 noon on Wed 4/14

We’re having a problem with a runaway background process on the Datatel system today. The best way to resolve the issue is to have all users exit from Datatel so I can stop and restart the database and listener processes.

Please exit from all Datatel sessions on your computer by 12:00 noon today (Wed 4/14).

The process should only take about 15 minutes.

Campus Printing Issues - Update

Update April 8

A script meant to clean-up and optimize the GoPrint database was identified as a potential cause of recent printing issues. The script was not running as scheduled. Our Network team has resolved that issue and performance has improved.

We are continuing to investigate options for speeding up the GoPrint client.

Printing on campus is currently experiencing issues including slowness and heavy print loads. This is in part due to database issues with the GoPrint server.

The KATIE Server is currently unavailable. LIS is working to resolve the issue and hope to have it back up shortly.

Connections to the Internet outside of Luther are currently experiencing troubles. This affects the entire campus. On campus websites (Katie, My.Luther, etc) are unaffected.

LIS is looking into the issue and hopes to have it resolved soon.

Internet Maintenance at 6AM on 2/12/10

I’m going to take our Internet connection down to upgrade the firmware on our routers tomorrow (2/12/10) at 6AM. There will be some interruptions in internet service during the maintenance. I expect to have the maintenance completed by 7AM.

This maintenance is needed to fix the issue that caused today’s internet problems and ensure that this problem doesn’t occur again.

Internet Trouble

We’re currently having trouble with our routing to the internet, and internet service is down. I’m working to get service restored asap. I will post updates here as I have them.

Update Service is restored for now, but we may have trouble again as what we have found and solved so far is not a complete fix.

LDAP Down for Maintenance - 11:20am Tuesday

At 11:20am today (Tuesday), LIS will take down the LDAP Authentication server for emergency maintenance. This outage is expected to last approximately 15 minutes.

During this time, users will be unable to log into workstations, network drives, and many Luther services. Datatel and Norse Mail will not be effected. Users that are currently logged in should experience no troubles.
