The Technology Help Desk maintains a number of multimedia workstations and equipment for converting various types of media (VHS, DVD, CD, etc) into other formats including Flash for streaming on Katie.

If requesting LIS support to complete the process, a minimum of 10 business days is required. These instructions will show you how to complete the majority of steps involved on your own.

Infrequent users of Datatel may be prompted to upgrade their Datatel UI to the latest version (2.3 as of Oct 2009). Follow these instructions to upgrade the client.

1. Click on Start.
2. Type \\admin1.luther.edu\datatel\install23.bat and press Enter.
3. The client will install. This may take up to 10 – 15 minutes.

Luther community members attempting to view NetLibrary e-books through Encore on a Macintosh computer may be prompted to install the nlReader.dll file. .DLL files are specific for Windows computers and cannot be installed on a Mac.

The Technology Help Desk will not take equipment from one system or create custom setups for events.

Both Microsoft Office 2007 (Windows) and Office 2008 (Mac) are capable of printing more than one page per sheet of paper. This is an excellent way to reduce paper usage when editing rough drafts or distributing handouts. As users are only charged per sheet of paper printed, this also costs less.

GoPrint tracks print usage based on the Norse Key associated with the Print Job. In order to successfully print, you will need to log onto a workstation using a Username that matches the one issued to you by Luther.
