Encore access restored

The Encore library search engine is available once again, after an outage caused by yesterday’s power issues in the server room.

EBSCO introduces app for iPhone

EBSCO, the college’s provider for databases such as Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, America: History & Life, and many others, has just introduced an application for all iOS devices.

To install and configure the app, visit any EBSCO database and scroll to the bottom of the search page to find the link labeled “EBSCOhost iPhone/iPod Touch Application.” This will send you an email with further instructions.

Once configured the app allows you to search all EBSCO databases available at Luther, and even access full text PDF files.

Credo Reference Downtime Scheduled

Our vendor has notified us that Credo Reference will be unavailable from 1am-3am Central time on Saturday, Feb. 19, in order to perform system upgrades.

Mobile Lab Availability Site Updated

The Luther Mobile Lab Availability site has been updated to more accurately display what its name implies. Previously, the amount of computers in use along with the total amount of computers in the lab was displayed; with the update the amount in use has been replaced by the amount available. To view this site, as well as our other mobile offerings, please visit http://www.luther.edu/mobile/.

Citrix licensing issues resolved

Some applications are currently not opening and the user is receiving an error within Citrix. The Network Systems team is working to resolve this as quickly as possible.

Update: 2:26PM The server has been rebooted and all seems to be working fine again.

Instructions for Digital Microfilm Reader/Scanner Available

Instructions for using the digital microfilm reader and high resolution scanner found in the Microfilm Area on the main floor of Preus Library are now posted at the workstation in the Microfilm Area, and are available on LIS website.

Grove Music Online Adds AmeriGrove II Content

The Grove Music Online database, provided by Oxford, now includes entries from the second edition of the Grove Dictionary of American Music. There are currently about 750 AmeriGrove entries in Grove Music Online, including articles on 19th Century music, organ music, and scholars and librarians.

OED Launches New Site on Nov. 30

The Oxford English Dictionary launches their redesigned website, http://www.oed.com, on Tuesday, November 30, 2010.

After the relaunch, Oxford recommends that users update any bookmarks they have saved to the updated URLs. Until March 30, 2011, both the old and new sites will be available to help facilitate the conversion of URLs.
