LIS Websites

It is now possible to request an ILL directly from an item record returned by the WorldCat.org search box on the Library Research page, while browsing from an on-campus computer.

Below the descriptive information about the book, you will see a link to “Request on Interlibrary Loan.” This will import the information into the Illiad ILL system.

This week the LIS website was transferred to a new server. Users will still access the site at http://lis.luther.edu.

The new server should provide us with increased flexibility as we continue to develop and improve the LIS website.

Starting at 10:00 am, Wednesday November 26, 2009, a brief downtime will be scheduled for http://lis.luther.edu (the LIS homepage) while the site is transferred to a new server. Service is expected to be interrupted for 30-60 minutes.

Several website modules were updated.

LIS is seeking volunteers to participant in usability testing of the LIS website.

Input from both students and faculty/staff is sought. A $10 gift certificate will be offered as compensation to participants for a 30-40 minute interview. For more information, and to sign up, visit http://lis.luther.edu/usability/

For users of Academic Search Complete, Business Source Elite, PsychInfo, and other EBSCO databases, a change has recently been made which will make it easier to link directly to citations and full-text articles from KATIE or other websites.

Most entries in EBSCO databases will include a field labeled “Persistent link to this record (Permalink).” This field includes a link that will allow authorized users to access the citation and/or article via our proxy server.

Security updates were applied.

Text size of search box descriptions on Library Research page has been increased.

This week, the following updates were made to the LIS website:

• Proxy login page modified to match current LIS style
• User-customizable blog notifications added.

It is now possible to customize how often you receive email updates from the LIS Blog!

If you click the link to “My Account” in the right-most sidebar and then select the “My Notifications” tab, you’ll see the options depicted below.
