McAfee Security Scan Installed w/o User Consent
28 October 2009 - 8:36am — hughesmaA number of users this morning are being prompted to run McAfee Security Scans on their workstations. The Technology Help Desk believes this software is being installed without users consent or being aware after visiting websites.
While McAfee is a legitimate anti-virus software, it is not used by Luther or LIS. It can be safely uninstalled.

Print or other buttons not working in Gmail
28 October 2009 - 7:22am — perrylynRecently, a few on campus have called in to the Help Desk because they can not print from Norse Mail in Firefox. After doing some research I have found that this is a known Google issue and is also occurring in other browsers such as Google Chrome and Safari.
If this problem is encountered I have come up with a few options that seem to be temporary solutions. First, at the bottom of your Norse Mail page you can switch the view to Basic HTML. Although this view is a little ugly it does allow you to print again. Second, switch to Internet Explorer for your mail.

Recent reports of slow Datatel performance
2 October 2009 - 10:49am — gullickLIS has received several reports in recent weeks from users of the Datatel system performing slower than normal. Other Datatel clients have reported the problem to Datatel on AnswerNet and on the Datatel forums. We believe the issues are from infrastructure changes that Datatel is making in preparation for the next version (4.0) of the Datatel User Interface. There has not been any indication that Datatel will put resources into resolving the performance issues on our current version, Datatel UI 2.3.

On NorseKey.luther.edu you will be asked to set your security questions if you have not already completed them to authenticate yourself so that you can use the “Forgot My NorseKey” option to reset your NorseKey.
