A New Home for the Technology Help Desk

On Thursday, Aug 27th, the Technology Help Desk will move into its new home within the Library. There will be a very short downtime between 7:30am – 8:00am when phones will be disconnected for the move.

Walk-Up : The Walk-Up desk has merged with the Reference Desk and is located straight ahead from the main entrance.

Sophos Version 7.0 for Macs

Sophos for Mac has been upgraded from 4.9 to 7.0 on sophos.luther.edu. We have updated the website with new links.
This update will be installed automatically. The shield will turn from blue to black when the update is complete.

Sophos 7.0 is for Mac OSX 10.4 and newer. Older versions are no longer supported.

Sophos for Windows is not affected by this update.

Help Desk Check-Out Equipment Moves

On Tuesday, August 25th, all equipment previously checked out from the Technology Help Desk will be moved to the Library Circulation Desk. This includes Laptops, LCD Projectors, Screens, etc. Equipment will still be reserved and serviced by the Help Desk, but will need to be picked up and returned at the Circulation Desk.

LIS Deploys GoPrint to Manage Student Printing

Beginning August 13th, all Luther student printing will be managed by the GoPrint print management solution. First announced last March, GoPrint will allow LIS to better track individual usage and appropriately allocate costs in providing printing services. It is also part of our effort to help cut down on waste and encourage better use of printing on campus.

Print Service Restored

KACE KBOX Agent Identified by Sophos Anti-Virus

This morning, Sophos Anti-Virus began flagging an application called ‘KACE KBOX’ as a suspicious file. This file is safe.

LIS is pushing the KACE KBOX agent to all Luther workstations in order to better utilize new technologies for the upcoming school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Help Desk at x1000.

Internet service interuption

We are currently experiencing internet interruptions. Our Network technicians are working to identify the problem and resolve the issues.

‘’‘Update 10:30AM’‘’ — We have a work around for a routing problem that was occurring. Internet service should now be back up for all users.

Announcing new NorseCard.luther.edu website

LIS and Dining Services are pleased to announce a new service allowing students and staff to check their Luther ID card activity.

NorseCard.luther.edu allows students to check their meal plan
balances, Dining Dollars, and NordicCash balances. Students no longer need to contact Dining Services to check their balances.

To use the NorseCard.luther.edu website, use your NorseKey username and password to access your NorseCard account information. If you need assistance, please contact the LIS Help Desk.
