The Help Desk has been made aware of another Phishing e-mail (shown below) that has been sent to many individuals on campus. This e-mail is NOT from LIS or the Technology Help Desk. Please do not respond to the message. If you have already responded, please change your Norse Key immediately at http://norsekey.luther.edu .

The Help Desk and LIS will never request your Norse Key or other personal information.

Phishing Scam Email

The LIS Help Desk has been made aware of a phishing email that has been delivered to many persons on campus. This is a phishing scam and seeks to steal your name and password. Please do not respond to this email with any personal information. The Help Desk will never seek names and passwords via email. If you have accidentily responded to this email message please immediately change your account password at http://norsekey.luther.edu .

Working with a software vendor this week I used a site called YouSendIt.com to transfer a large file. The site provides a free service to temporarily transfer files securely and additional services for a fee.

Farewell Reception for Andrew Olson

LIS is hosting a reception Friday, June 6th, from 9:30-11:00am in the Library Technical Services Area in honor of Andrew Olson and his service to LIS and the Luther Community in his position as Help Desk Manager. All LIS members are invited to stop by, have a snack, and wish Andrew well as he moves on to new opportunities.

Service Interruption Posts Now Hosted on lis.luther.edu

Posts regarding service interruptions are no longer being hosted by helpdesk.luther.edu. Service interruption posts are now hosted by lis.luther.edu in the Service Interruptions blog. However, the Help Desk home page will continue to display current postings made through the LIS site in near real-time. Users can continue to be directed to the Help Desk website for up to date information on outages and other services interruptions.

Graduate Account Removal Process

At 8:45 this morning a message was sent from the Help Desk to 503 probable spring or summer graduates notifying them of the account removal process for recent graduates. Below is a copy of that message.

LIS News on Help Desk Website

The front page of the Help Desk website is now displaying posts from the LIS Blogs at lis.luther.edu rather than duplicating noteworthy LIS news through the site's own article creation system. Currently, the Help Desk site is gathering and displaying posts with blog tags of Training, Network and Systems, Application Development, and User Services. The posts are being gathered and displayed through Google's AJAX Feed API which claims to gather new content within an hour.
