2011/2012 Network Registration Stats as of 9/1/11

So far this school year more than 1900 devices have been registered for use on the Luther College Network. Most of these are student owned devices, but some may also be personal devices owned by Faculty or Staff. Here is a graph showing the distribution of the Operating Systems that these devices run.

Technology Help Desk Stats - August 15th to August 31st

Students began returning to campus on August 15th (sports teams, RAs, etc). In past years, ResLife has estimated that as many as 1,000 students are on campus before the official move-in weekend. Services have to be provided to these students (dining, custodial, etc) and nearly every one of them has a computer, mobile device, or other system that needs to get onto Luther’s network.

Over a Third of Luther Computers Now Have Windows 7

I logged onto the KBOX Administrative console recently and viewed a statistic that really stuck out—- over one third of all Luther owned computers are now running Windows 7 (see graph below). A month and a half ago, Windows 7 usage was limited to the select few users in our testing group. After the remaining Lab/Classroom upgrades, and the upcoming staff rollout, Windows Vista will relinquish its long standing title as the most predominate OS on campus.

On Thursday, August 18, 2011 LIS will implement “Single-Signon” (SSO) for KATIE and Norse Apps/Mail. The login screens for each of these applications will change.
